Where things stand and what is not decided
This handbook describes how things work after launch. This page says what is true today, which dates matter, and what is still open. Anything marked TBD is being decided.
Not live yet. The public site at www.cherrycrest-ptsa.org is still WordPress, and MailPoet still sends the weekly Chatter. Keep using WordPress and MailPoet until the launch date is announced.
The new Webflow site is finished on the practice site. Brevo, the new email sender, is not set up for the PTSA yet.
What happens at launch
- WordPress switches off in one step. When the web address moves to Webflow, WordPress, wp-admin, MailPoet sending and the MailPoet signup form all stop at the same moment. That is why Brevo and the subscriber list must be ready before launch, not after.
- Content freeze. For about two days before launch, add no new posts or Chatters in WordPress. Anything added after the final copy would be lost.
- First Chatter from Brevo. The suggested plan is to launch on a Wednesday, right after a Tuesday Chatter, so the next issue is the first one from Brevo, with six days to rehearse.
- Email does not change. @cherrycrest-ptsa.org mail stays at Gandi; only the web records move.
- WordPress is kept for 4โ6 weeks after launch as a reference, then cancelled. A full backup is kept.
Dates
| Date | What |
|---|---|
| Done Oct 22 | The cherrycrest-ptsa.org domain was renewed at Gandi and now runs to Nov 2, 2027. If it ever lapses, the website and all PTSA email stop. |
| TBD | Launch date. A launch in the first week of November was called realistic if the PTSA's accounts and decisions arrived by about Oct 23. |
Open decisions
Until each of these is settled, do not plan around a particular answer.
- TBDReplacement for Marapod (Important Dates)
Blocks launch. The "Important Dates" link in the menu and footer of every page, and about 19 links inside pages, still go to Marapod's closing notice. The answer is a new calendar link, or removing the link.
- TBDWhether the old posts are published
Blocks launch. 611 of the 651 posts copied from WordPress are drafts. Publishing them keeps old links working; leaving them as drafts sends old links to the News page instead.
- TBDWhere the composer runs
The options: a PTSA Cloudflare account with an email sign-in ($5/mo), a Webflow app, a volunteer's laptop, the developer keeping it, or no composer at all (writing in Brevo's editor and copying each issue into Webflow for the archive). Also open: who fixes it if it breaks.
- TBDBrevo account and signup form
The PTSA's own Brevo account, the sender address, the paid plan, and the signup form that replaces MailPoet's in the footer and on /charger-chatter.
- TBDWebflow plan, seats and shared account
The PTSA buys the Premium site plan with its own card after the site moves to a PTSA Workspace. Still open: nonprofit pricing, the Workspace plan, the shared PTSA role address that owns the shared login, and whether a shared login fits Webflow's terms.
- TBDWho may publish the whole site
This includes special issues, which publish the whole site. With one shared login, everyone can, so this is a team agreement.
- TBDVisitor statistics
None are set up. Webflow sells an Analyze add-on, or the PTSA can go without.
- TBDLaunch date
Depends on the items above.
Costs for each of these are on Where things live.
